Six Checkpoints

In 2024 there are six checkpoints that have to be passed in a given order. Start and finish is in Burgdorf and all checkpoints are located in the canton of Bern.

Checkpoint 1

Emmental

The first checkpoint on the way to the Bernese Oberland takes us through the Emmental and into the municipality of Linden, around 40 km from Burgdorf. Our checkpoint there is at the Ringgis mountain restaurant, where you have a wonderful view of the Bernese Alps.

Checkpoint 2

The 16 km long Diemtigtal is the largest side valley of the Simmental and is located in the Bernese Oberland. Our second checkpoint takes us to the Wiriehornbahn mountain station at 1418 m above sea level, where the Wiriehorn mountain restaurant is located.

Checkpoint 3

Region Gantrisch

The Gantrisch region is located in the Bern-Thun-Fribourg triangle and is a popular destination for hiking and cycling. Our checkpoint is located in Ottenleuebad at the hotel. Franziska and Ron will welcome us there in their newly opened restaurant "Bi üs Deheim".

Checkpoint 4

Region Chasseral

Our fourth checkpoint is located at the clubhouse of the Erlach ski club at 1,000 m above sea level near the municipality of Nods on the road to the Chasseral. At 1607 m above sea level, the Chasseral is the highest peak in the Bernese and Neuchâtel Jura.

Checkpoint 5

Scheltenpass

And because it was so nice last year, we will be visiting the Zemp family at the Obere Muolte organic farm in Schelten again in 2024. The farm is located at 950 meters above sea level in the Bernese Jura. Schelten is the northernmost municipality in the canton of Bern with fewer than 50 inhabitants.
